West Michigan Diving Academy lessons teach the skills, techniques, and mechanics to experience success in springboard diving.

Class Cancellations and Refunds

Diving 1: Dive Safe (ages 6-8 yrs)

The objective of diving 1 is to introduce students to diving safety. Students will learn diving safety, correct body alignment, jumping technique, head-first entry, and spatial coordination through both dry-land and water skills. Students must have passed level 3 swimming lessons and be comfortable swimming in deep water.

Saturday: Feb. 22 - April 18 at WMU's Gabel Natatorium, 10-10:50 a.m.

No Lessons On:

Diving 2: FUNdamental Diving Skills (ages 7-9)

The objective of Diving 2 is to introduce students to springboard diving FUNdamentals. Students will learn the essential skills needed to succeed in springboard diving. Students must have passed Diving 1.

Diving 3: Diving Skill Refinement (ages 8-10)

The objective of Diving 3 is to improve and expand upon the diving FUNdamentals learned in Diving 2 and to begin working on basic dives. Students will learn several lead-up diving skills on the trampoline and springboard as well as basic conditioning. Students must have passed Diving 2.

Winter 2

Monday and Wednesday: Feb. 24 - April 1 at Gabel Natatorium, 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Open registration: Jan. 27 - Feb. 26 ($15 late fee effective Feb. 14)


Spring

Monday and Wednesday: April 13 - May 22 at Gabel Natatorium, 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Open registration: March 30 - April 15 ($15 late fee effective April 16)

Diving 4: Basic Dives (ages 9+)

The objective of Diving 4 is to fine tune the four basic dives, forward, back, reverse, and inward dives, on both 1M and 3M springboard. After learning the four basic dives, students will begin working on somersaulting skills in each direction.

Winter 2

Monday and Wednesday: Feb. 24 - April 1 at Gabel Natatorium, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Spring
