It's not the biggest, nor the newest, but Western Michigan's Lawson Ice Arena may be the most exciting atmosphere in college hockey
KALAMAZOO, Mich. - It may be the smallest home rink in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC), but Western Michigan’s Lawson Ice Arena is far from the quietest. In fact, it might just be one of the best college hockey atmospheres in the country.
Thanks to a rabid student section that often takes up nearly half of the arena’s bleachers, a layout that has kept its classic hockey character, and a team whose playing style has largely done the same, Lawson is as energizing for opposing teams as it is hostile.
